This informational guide helps you prepare an enquiry. The accepted quotation defines the work.

Separate requested work from included work

Start with the rooms and items involved, then describe the condition and your priorities. A request to clean a kitchen does not establish that cupboard interiors, appliances, walls and every fitting are included. The accepted quotation should identify the requested tasks that can be delivered and any limits.

Use three categories when reviewing a proposal: included in the quoted scope; optional and requiring separate agreement; excluded or needing another assessment. Do not treat an optional request as included until the quotation says so.

Build the room and item schedule

  • Kitchen: name counters, sink, cupboard interiors or exteriors, and any appliance interiors requested.
  • Bathrooms: list accessible fixtures, glass, tiles and surfaces; identify existing damage separately.
  • Living and sleeping areas: specify floors, doors, reachable surfaces and storage areas rather than using bedroom count alone.
  • Glass and outside areas: identify sides, tracks, balconies or terraces and any access restrictions.
  • Furnishings: list seating, rugs, carpets, mattresses or curtains as items needing their own scope review.

Use a decision record for each item

For each entry, record the area or item, requested task, material or care information, access constraint and decision. An example enquiry might read: kitchen cupboard interiors; empty accessible shelves only; delicate finish to be checked; inclusion awaiting quotation. This illustrates a brief, not a standard company package.

Repeat the same record for every optional task. If two quotations differ, compare the decisions and responsibilities rather than assuming the lower headline price buys the same work. Check whether materials, item movement or a return visit are included instead of guessing.

Make exclusions and limitations useful

Cleaning does not automatically include repairs, restoring a damaged finish, replacing sealant, dismantling fittings or moving heavy appliances. Describe these needs separately. Work at height, waste removal and specialist treatments also need their own review; a whole-property label does not establish those capabilities.

Cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting have different meanings. Do not assume that a deep-cleaning quotation includes a particular disinfection process or establishes a health outcome. Ask what task and method are proposed for the actual surface and follow relevant manufacturer instructions.

Questions Before You Arrange the Work

Does deep cleaning include every room and furnishing?

Only the agreed scope establishes what is included. Identify rooms, surfaces and furnishings separately, then check the quotation for optional tasks and exclusions.

Are appliance and cupboard interiors automatically included?

No. State which interiors you want assessed and confirm access, handling and inclusion before accepting the quotation.

Is a deep clean the same as disinfection?

No. Cleaning and disinfection are different tasks. A deep-cleaning label does not establish a disinfection process or a health outcome.
