This informational guide helps you prepare an enquiry. The accepted quotation defines the work.

Ask who can release each area for cleaning

Record the status of contractor work, the areas still controlled by trades and the person responsible for confirming access. Explain pending drilling, painting, fitting or repair work. A calendar date alone does not establish that every part of a site is ready for a final clean.

Agree whether the request concerns the completed property or particular released zones. Do not assume phased work alongside active construction is available. The team must assess scope and arrangements for the actual project before committing to timing.

Separate debris, residue and defects

  • Bulk debris and leftover materials: identify what remains and who is responsible for removal.
  • Packaging and protective coverings: explain what may be removed and by whom; do not assume cleaning includes stripping every protective layer.
  • Surface residue: photograph the affected finish and describe known paints, adhesives or other products without attempting an unconfirmed treatment.
  • Defects and damage: record scratches, broken fittings and unfinished work separately from cleaning requests.
  • Suspected hazardous materials or unknown contamination: flag them for appropriate assessment rather than treating them as ordinary household dust.

Provide a finish and access schedule

List the floors, glass, fixtures, storage and accessible surfaces to be assessed. Share manufacturer or contractor information about new finishes, care restrictions and required curing conditions. This helps distinguish a cleaning request from a treatment that could affect a new surface.

Explain access limits, occupied areas, utilities and any permissions controlled by building management or the contractor. Do not assume work at height, internal equipment cleaning, hazardous-waste handling or restoration is included in a post-build quotation.

Agree stages and acceptance criteria

For each requested zone, record its release status, the proposed tasks, excluded work and the completion contact. If further trades must enter, ask how that affects scheduling and any follow-up request. There is no universal number of passes, completion interval or project duration promised by this guide.

Use the agreed task list when reviewing completion, and route defects back to the responsible party. Construction dust can present health risks; specialist assessment and suitable controls belong with competent responsible people. This worksheet does not certify that a site is safe to occupy or provide a waste-handling protocol.

Questions Before You Arrange the Work

Can I book a fixed interval after the builders finish?

Describe the actual remaining works, surface conditions and access. Site readiness and the proposed scope need review; no universal interval is established here.

Is construction or hazardous-waste disposal automatically included?

No. Identify remaining materials and agree responsibilities separately. This guide does not establish a disposal service or hazardous-material handling capability.

Does cleaning resolve snagging defects?

No. Damage, unfinished fittings and other defects need their own responsible party. Record them separately from the agreed cleaning tasks.
